MR BILL AND THE DUCKS
.
There has never been a funnier beagle than Mr. Bill. Named Bill at birth he earned his title "Mr." over time.
As a young beagle he loved to escape with his mom, Tiger Lily, and his brother, Sam, and his step-sister, Sally, and run and bark, and run and bark, until I could finally track them down and get them back home. Sometimes this happened all at once, but usually it was one dog at a time - captured and carried back home. The hunt, capture and return could take a full day and night or if I was quick - less than an hour. I can honestly say that I may know each and every step of all the woods and mountains around Williamstown.
Once Mr. Bill escaped and got so lost he was missing for 5 days before he somehow found his own way home. I must have lost 10 pounds during that time searching and searching and searching for him. His tales of travels included eating lunch everyday with different farmers. (I always wondered why they did not catch him, rather than give him their lunch)
He now sleeps a lot, especially over my pillow at night. He usually sleeps belly up with legs outstretched in the air.
He never misses an opportunity to sit up like a koala bear and beg for food. He and the other beagles spend alot of their spare time with the ducks and chickens and sometimes Bill wanders the paddocks with the "dog friendly" horses.
If you ever want to be assured of a smile a day - get a BEAGLE.
If you would like to hear a story about more beagles let me know. There is always another beagle story.
